The Mahlknecht Nativity scene offered in our online shop was created in the early 1980s in the then-small workshop of the Peter Mahlknecht family. The "Original Mahlknecht Nativity Scene" is a collector's item in the Alpine style. Over the years, it has grown into a handsome Christmas nativity scene with over one hundred Mahlknecht figures , allowing buyers to create their own personalized Nativity scene.

The figures are designed in a rustic, Alpine style, beautifully crafted, and reminiscent of the inhabitants of the idyllic mountain villages of South Tyrol a hundred years ago. The Mahlknecht Nativity scene is still expanded with new additions every year.

Some figures can be found in both the Mahlknecht and Kostner nativity scenes. Both nativity scenes were made by PEMA. Many figures bear the name "Kostner Nativity Scene" because it is the older of the two.
