Modern nativity figures made of wood ⁽⁰⁾

The nativity figures offered in our online shop Germanwoodcarving.com were predominantly created in the early 1980s in the then still small workshops of traditional South Tyrolean woodcarving families .
The nativity scenes of this time were mostly designed in an Alpine-peasant style and reflected the simple life of the mountain dwellers.

Over the years, this has resulted in impressive nativity scenes, some with over a hundred figures , allowing collectors to design their personal home nativity scene entirely according to their own taste.
The intricately crafted figures impress with their wealth of detail and are reminiscent of the industrious inhabitants of the idyllic South Tyrolean mountain villages from over a hundred years ago.

With the beginning of the new millennium, the first modern nativity scene series appeared, quickly gaining popularity and now becoming an integral part of the world of Christmas nativity displays. Among the best-known series are the Comet Nativity , Pema Nativity , Leonardo Nativity , Artis Nativity , and Light Nativity .

These series are still expanded annually with new figures , so exciting additions are constantly being made and the joy of collecting remains alive.
Our nativity figures are available in various sizes from 6 cm to 25 cm (some are even larger) and in different finishes : natural, stained, multicolored stained or painted with oil or water paints .
